Firefighters Battle Two Fires In Ayden

Firefighters were called out to two fires within 19 minutes of each other in Ayden on Friday afternoon.

The first was at an apartment on Snow Hill Street. Officials say gas started the fire. The apartment was damaged, but no one was injured. Officials estimate the damage is worth 2 to 3 thousand dollars.

Then 19 minutes later the firefighters were called to a home on Garris Street.

They say that home is a total loss. They are still investigating to see what caused the fire. No one was home at the time.

Officials say the property is worth 20 thousand dollars and the personal property worth 5 thousand. The homeowners did not have insurance.

No one was injured in that fire.
