Fire Damages Kinston Restaurant

A Kinston restaurant that was recently listed as one of the top 100 best restaurants in the United States was damaged Saturday morning by a fire.

According to fire officials they got the call around 9:30 a.m. that "Chef and the Farmer" was on fire. The restaurant is on West Gordon Street.

The fire began on the 1st floor of the restaurant in the storage room. It took around 10 minutes to put the fire out. The storage room door was closed when the fire started which helped stop the fire from spreading to the rest of the building.

Officials say the 1st and 2nd floor of the restaurant have serious smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

OpenTable.com listed recently listed "Chef and the Farmer" as a winner of the Diners' Choice Awards for the top 100 best restaurants in the United States.

The restaurant is now closed. No word yet on when it will reopen.

Just because Candy (sans Heef) decided to grace the eastern ditch with her presence this weekend doesn't mean she can ignore the due-do eye and subsequent clean up on aisle 9. The button exists! We hope the restaurant is open soon.

Ranger Rick & Lisa can't differeniate between Freud's structural and topographical models of personality versus transference and trauma or psychosexual development, and their infantile analytical commentary should be left for the playpen!

We think Red & Betty as well as Candy & Heef have been playing charades in the hog pasture! This forum should be used to facilitate the edification of the restaurant as opposed to a sounding board for those intoxicated by the stroking of their keyboards!

Listen now and hear us later, we miss the fine dining at this fabulous resaurant! Much luck and best wishes for a speedy reopening!

While we respect the commentary of our colleagues Candy & Heef, their conclusion regarding the gurgler theory and the pool puppies (see below) lacks supporting empirical data and is incorrect. As pool puppies are not congruent with id or ego, their migration is merely coincidental with the back splash.

We have enjoyed the psychological interaction of food, fellowship and fine dining at this esteemed establishment on many occasions. The redundant predicament of the aforementioned due-do eye (reference Red & Betty) is in keeping with Freud's structural and topographical models of personality, much like the gurgler theory impacts the pool puppies and their instinctive swim towards the light. We hope the restaurant can make their repairs quickly and reopen soon!

I've not been so disappointed since I opened a bad can of Pringles! All the puppies in the pool are paddling sadly about, yearning in earnest for the reopening date. We wish the best to everyone at this fine eatery and hope the downtime is minimal.

It's hopeful that the problems clogging the system can all be worked out with a pencil. Everyone is on the edge of their seat awaiting splashdown of the final outcome, and the reopening of this wonderful restaurant can't happen soon enough. Best of luck!

Most, if not all, of the employees of Lisa's Lingerie and Backhoe Service have enjoyed the fine dining available at this great restaurant. While excretion deletion is pending, one must always consider clean up on aisle 9, however the effort is certainly worth the rewards! Hopefully we will soon be able to peruse the wonderful menu items once more and indulge in these culinary delights!

Knowing the cuisine like we do, it's imperative that the due-do eye is upon us! Best wishes for a speedy repair and open for business!
