For the second time this year, employees of the state Ferry Division have helped with a water rescue on the Neuse River.
The latest happened Friday afternoon around 3:00 p.m. when the Cherry Branch office got a phone call from a teacher with Camp Seagull that someone was in distress in the water.
A rescue board was launched from the Minnesott Beach terminal after employees saw a kite boarder was tangled in line attached to the board and needed help. The two employees untangled the kite boarder and got him back to the beach at Wilkinson Point.
In April four people and a dog were rescued after an onboard fire on their boat.
