The father of a Wilson County Marine who lost his life in Afghanistan knew the dangers of what he did, but wanted to continue.
Staff Sergeant Leon Lucas Junior was killed in combat in the Helmand Province on Monday, August 1.
Lucas' father Leon Sr. says, "With him being a born again Christian, he said that he really did not feel that he would be in God's will if he got out, and so he just felt like he needed to stay in. He realized the possibility of him maybe dying in battle, but he was willing to endure that."
Lucas leaves behind a wife and two sons. He and his wife were expecting their third child in December.
