Two Holly Ridge residents are jailed after deputies say they found a meth lab in their home, and one of them no stranger to meth charges.

Onslow County deputies have charged Kelly Hoffer and Scott Vance with multiple charges including manufacture methamphetamine, manufacture methamphetamine by package and repackage,

Deputies say Monday, North Carolina Probation and Parole asked for help in searching the couple's home on Clearview Drive. There they found the small meth lab known as a one pot meth lab. The SBI was called in, while a certified meth lab cleanup company removed the hazardous materials.

Hoffer has been charged in the past for purchasing more than the amount of Pseudoephedrine allowed in North Carolina. Bond for both was set at $206,000.

Meth is a dangerous, illegal drug that can be taken in a variety of ways, including smoking, snorting or injecting.

As recent reports have shown, the labs can be extremely dangerous, involving explosives, chemicals and acids.

Officials say there are several signs that a home or building might be a meth lab location.

The signs include:

-Strong odors, often chemical in nature, like paint thinner, or a smell like ammonia

-Large amounts of garbage, including containers for antifreeze and drain cleaners

-Large amounts of packages/containers for Pseudoephedrine, a cold medication. It is the key ingredient in meth making.

-Sporadic visitor activity and efforts to cover up windows from the inside
