Elizabeth City Man Indicted On Federal Firearm Charges

An Elizabeth City was indicted in federal court Friday on firearms charges, following his arrest last month.

Jerry Long, 24, was arrested after tips to police that Long was making threats to shoot at a local school.

A press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office says the charges against Long include acquisition of a firearm by false
representation, false statement to a licensed firearms dealer, and possession of firearms by an unlawful user of a controlled substance.

Police said they found marijuana cigarettes in Long's home when they went there to question him on January 14. The press release also says Long showed the officers five firearms.
