Elderly Man Facing Attempted Murder Charge

An elderly Wilson man is accused of critically injuring another man in a shooting Sunday afternoon.

Wilson police have charged 72-year-old Oscar Green with attempted first degree murder. The victim, Christopher Thigpen, was found around 3:00 p.m. lying face down in a field near the intersection of Meadow and Lodge Street.

The 33-year-old victim had been shot in the back and is in critical condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Green is being held without bond.

If oyu are 72 and a 33 year old punk threatens you running is an option, provided you can run. At 72 running is not normally an option that works when trying to evade the average 33 year old male. It would be interesting to know why Mr. green was carrying a weapon. Most people in that age category carry because they fear being attacked. As for the photo, try being jacked up by the police and then have your photo taken. Sheesh! If he had just fended off a young thug and then was treated like many taken into custody by police he may very well have good reason to look strange in the photo.

there is more to the story than being told. Why would someone kill another person for no reason. The man Oscar Green must be guilty, why shoot the man in the back if he is not guilty? In broad daylight that man got some nerve, he must have been stalking this man for awhile, in order for him to have shot him down in broad daylight. Why drag the man's body in the field if you weren't intent to kill him in the first place? Like I said there's more to the story being told. I would love to hear the outcome of this investigation. Oscar Green eyes is the look of the DEVIL.

Maybe there was a fly on his back?

Sorry Anon you lose and can go to jail as well, threatening someone isn't justification for murder. If the guy was in the old man's house, I'd probably give him the benefit of the doubt, but not out in public. The Wild West days have been over for awhile.

Gee.....he's such a good guy......WHO SHOT SOMEONE IN THE BACK. He would not hurt a fly.... but a human? That is a different story. Another bad example for our African American youth. He was probably......'disrespected'.

To I fought the Law - In the back! Maybe that is where it belonged. If this was my father and the 33 year old was threatening him - I would have wanted him to aim a little higher. Sometimes it is justified dear. Back or foot or where ever.
