According to Williamston police around 9:00 a.m. they were called out to a home on 1501 W. Main St. in reference to a domestic assault in progress.

You and I do not know what goes on behind close doors. Ladies and Gents place yourself in a position whereas you are being abused. This is a serious matter, so stop all the jokes! For the ones that are showing compassionate for this man you are sick. This is probably a reoccurring act and she finally escaped. Disease or no disease he must be treated or punished for what he has done.

I have taken care of elderly women in the hospital who were abused by their elderly husbands. It's so sad. They are of the mindset that they cannot leave. They go back home into it.

I've known Mr. Bowen for years. He is a spiritual man, he reads the bible. He is not a violent man, maybe he was attacked. He was tight with money, he will now have to spend a bunch of it. Also, he likes windmills.

I think the word you meant to use was "peers". My back porch looks pretty clean. I too have been a victim of domestic violence and regardless of the situation there is no excuse for what happened unless this man has a mental illness.

I have known Mr. Bowen for many years and have never seen him show any sign of dementia or violence. He did seem to be very controlling of his current wife. Ironically, he loves to write letters to the editor especially about love and God.. I am so sorry to see this happened. We should not jump to conclusions.
