East Carolina University is closing several parking lots because of the possibility of flooding from Hurricane Irene.

The university says the lots will reopen by 7 a.m. Monday if possible.

ECU has also set up a call center for concerned parents.

I guess the staff at ECU is not important. We have families too. We have things we need to do before the storm gets here. Come on ECU, you need to be concerned for everyone's saftey.

We still live in a class society in the USA; some are privileged and some are not. And there's no better place to witness classism than in higher education.

Funny, most of the EPA staff in our unit have left. SPA staff are not given the same option; seems like a double standard. Yes, EPA staff have different standards, but we're talking about people's concern for safety.
