ECU Football Lands High Profile Recruit

Lucas Thompson, one of the best high school safeties in the country, has committed to the East Carolina Pirates.

Thompson made his final decision by choosing ECU over Miami and South Carolina on national television Thursday night at the Under Armour All-America Game aired live on ESPN.

Thompson is 6'1" 185 pounds out of West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida. He is a 3-star recruit according to

Thompson was offered scholarships by at least 15 other major colleges including Wisconsin, Louisville and West Virginia.

according to "Thompson is one of the bigger sleepers heading into the spring evaluation period out of the state of Florida. This guy has safety size and physicality with cornerback breaking quickness and anticipation skills. Tall, well-built with a high-cut frame that allows him to cover a lot of ground."

Great job Ruff in getting this recruit. Don't pay any attention to the anti ECU posters here. Some of these posters would try to find fault with Heaven. Go ECU!! 'Nuff Sais!!

Why is it that people just cant give respect where respect is due?? There are always reash talkers and ignorant individuals. I only saw one player last night committed to an ACC school and he was a kicker. Apparently if Lucas was good enough to be selected for the All-American game he has to be a pretty good player and was the #6 Saftey in the Nation. No one player can't make a team but he's a good foundation to build around along with other talent on the team has they'll be ok. The problem is the coaching not the players!!!

Actually, I was thinking the same thing in reference to you correcting this person's spelling and grammar. Do you have another life?

Do I have another life? Yes, I do. I have 8 more lives. You see, I'm a cat living my first life. Even as a cat typing here on my keyboard, I still possess better grammar and composition skills than this poster. Thanks for asking (meooow)!

People don't worry about 5 stars, 4stars or 3 stars, none of that matters when a kid enters school. After 3 years, then tell me how good the kid is doing. These guys who ranked these kids are like the ones who predict preseason polls, IT DON'T MATTER! Wish him and the Pirates the best!

1 recruit isn't going to change anything for ecu. and if you do a little research you will see that he wasn't even invited for an on campus visit at Miami. Yes he is better than most players ecu gets, however he will probably transfer after just one season.
