ECU Buying .XXX Web Domains As Precaution

East Carolina University, along with many other colleges and universities, are busy buying up web addresses with the new adult domain of .xxx.

The schools are registering the domains, like ecu.xxx, to protect themselves from someone registering a porn site with their brand.

ECU has registered a total of eight domains, at a cost of $199.99 each. Those include eastcarolina.xxx, ecu.xxx, eastcarolinauniversity.xxx and eastcarolinauniversitypirates.xxx. They have even registered leojenkinscancercenter.xxx as a precaution.

Next month the general public will be able to purchase the new adult web domains, while those with federally registered trademarks are able to reserve theirs during a "sunrise phase" that's now underway.

When I read the list, I immediately thought of that one. I wonder why they left it out?

because the powers that be, you know, the big shots that are in meetings all the time, don't recognize themselves as Pirates, herein lies the biggest reason why there's practically no collaboration or no corroberation on campus about much of anything.
