There are two new members on the East Carolina University Board of Trustees.
Robert V. “Bobby” Owens and Edwin L. Clark took their oaths Friday morning.
“We are pleased to have both of them. They are two excellent choices,” said Bob Lucas, chair of the board.
Owens is from Manteo. According to a press release, he is a businessman and has served on several boards, including the N.C. Utilities Commission, the N.C. Bank Commission, the N.C. Parks and Recreation Commission and the N.C. Tax Study Commission.
Owens was also on the Dare County Board of Commissioners for over two decades.
“I have been on a lot of boards and commissions in North Carolina and I think this is one of the best,” Owens said. “It’s going to be a challenge but it’s going to be a pleasure to work on behalf of East Carolina University.”
Clark is from Greenville. He's the executive vice president of WilcoHess. According to a press release, he also is a managing member of a private investment company.
Clark is an ECU alum and also serves on the ECU Education Foundation.
“I am so excited and pleased to be a part of this," Clark said. "I am excited to continue and help ECU any way we can.”
Earlier this month, Governor Beverly Perdue appointed Owens and Clark to the board. They will serve four-year terms.
