I would have thought someone with some inside scoop would have been here by now to explain the nature of the research and define it's goals. Since it seems to be a secret, my guess is going with CO2 gas and global warming research.

Think of it as inner space, instead of outer space research. If it helps further solutions to energy issues, great... but I can't find a clearly defined goal stated anywhere in looking it up. It would be nice to know more about it. Without info the story sort of hangs there like "a guy got some money to do stuff".

Only at ECU would this be news. At most REAL universities, a 1.5 million grant is considered chump change. Thanks WITN for acknowledging that ECU is a 4th tier "research" university.

You should be ashamed of yourself, not ECU. Why not do some reading about the good that has been done there before cracking wise about someone actually DOING something with their life.

"Chump change?"......Nonsense.....not for a faculty member just a few years into their career.

This is wonderful and I'm sure it will create a lot of graduate assistantships! Way to go, this man should be promoted to an Associate Professor! Whoever said he'll "get a good vacation" out of the cash obviously doesn't know anything about grants or higher education.

Congrats--glad it wasn't government funded. More research like this needs to be privatized, as it ensures real, honest results.
