I really hope that WITN will be the ones to break this story for you in 2012. Remember this, MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.

Sounds like someone is reporting from the Occupy Farmville rally.

Hopefully, Holland makes the right move and says that ECU athletics are dropping to Division 2

So ECU should drop to D2 just so your insecurities are lessened?

Who cares, we need to start getting a football team again before we continue this worry about a conference. Until we win and win on a regular basis we need to continue our sentence imposed with CUSA. As far as this news conference I am not sure there is any need for HOT air for it is not winter in Greenville

To say we don't have a football team is a vulgar insult to the many young men that play their hearts out each Saturday for East Carolina University. We all want wins, but allow these young men to mature and find their groove and I think they'll surprise you. What they need is your support, not coming on an internet forum and anonymously trashing everything they have worked all year for. If you hate ECU's policies then say so, but don't ignorantly put down the students and athletes who have done nothing to you.

I think the plan is to merge MWC.CUSA and the Big East for football and but then we could be in the Big East for everything else which would help our other sports as far as travel and other items. Imagine UCONN basketball every year at Minges and even Notre Dame as long as they don't leave as well.

Yeah the Big East is about to become the Big Least and dropped from the BCS ranks. Adding SMU, Air Force, Navy, UCF, and Houston (doubt Boise St goes) just makes them C-USA #2 and doesn't give them a power program. ECU might be better off waiting it out and watching the Big Least dust settle while we figure out if this C-USA/Mountain West merger is a good plan.

Reports from ESPN have the Big East in discussions with Conf. USA and MWAC to merge all three. The Big East is crumbling fast, and should no longer be the conference of choice for ECU.

My guess is the last line "ECU is openly seeking admission to the Big East Conference, but no invitation has been extended." is stale news from a while back by WITN... Holland's address should bring us up to date on our intentions. That being said, the Big East is looking like a risky investment as time goes by... their leadership appears to be thinking short term (wanting teams in large TV Markets) and lacks a solid vision. If a real change in thinking is part of the Big East plan, do we make that leap? Sure glad I'm not making that decision. In TH I trust.

Ever heard the term, BCS AQ status?

Why now...why the Big East? That conference is about to crumble. It was announced last night that WV is leaving for the Big 12...5 teams remain and odds are Louisville, UConn, and Rutgers are next.

Until they come up with a system to crown a "TRUE" champion like a playoff, it doesn't matter who is in what conference. Right now it's all about money and nothing else is relivant.
