We are turning our children into wussies!! I went to school from kindergarden to high school and NEVER did it close or delay due to WIND AND RAIN!! I even walked to school in blizzards. People gotta toughen up!!! Come on!

2 hour delay was a stupid move. IF they hadn't delayed school the kids would already be there and safe. Now the kids are just getting on the bus when it starting to storm here.

This "storm" was hardly anything in Raleigh. Not much wind,a 5 minute rain and it was gone.

Whenever Superintendent John Farrelly wants to let us out in Washington County, it's very appreciated.

looking at the radar it appears that it will not get here until around 8 or 8:30.I'm thinking this is going to change and they will shut down tyrrell and hyde county schools for the day.

WOW!!! Can we get one of these folks to come to Beaufort County and run the schools??? Good call. Protect the kids. Stop worrying about "the numbers" and the paperwork the state wants to see.

Good call for both counties, but for Hyde, it only applies to Mattamuskeet Schools, not Ocracoke School, so it's only Hyde County Schools Mainland.
