Duplin EMS Cuts Reversed

Budget cuts may not impact Duplin County's EMS service after all.

Following a public hearing about possible cuts to EMS service in Duplin County, county commissioners made a motion to put the EMS back to its present status and say they will find the funds later.

There was a proposal to reduce EMS locations from eight to six and cut twelve positions to save $460,000.

The budget has not yet been passed.

Why does Duplin Need Paramedics? They don't EMT I is fine! And we sure don't need all these supervisors riding around not doing nothing but burning gas. Put them on a ambulance like every where else does. The Paramedics run that siren every where they go, they cant find the address's they are looking. They are huge (fat) how can they help you, they are too big to get in the car that has been involved in a accident. You can be to the hospital here in 15 min all over this county, and a paramedic will call for a helicopter in a minute, when they could easily transport you to duplin general and you wait for the helicopter there. Blows my mind. There is more supervisors and management people in this county EMS system than there has ever been before. Needs to be CUT OUT!
