Dozens Of Cars In Craven County Neighborhood Broken Into

Dozens of cars were broken into and the Craven County Sheriff's Office says this wasn't the first time.

The break-ins happened sometime last Thursday night and early Friday morning in neighborhoods from Leonard Drive to Gibbs Road off of Old Cherry Point Road.

All the cars that were broken into were unlocked and many of the items stolen were easy to grab, like GPS units, sunglasses and change.

Captain Joe Heckman with the sheriff's office says it's important to lock your car doors even if you're home.

The investigation is on going.

If I saw the video correctly, there were one and two car garages at these houses. If these people were concerned about the break-ins, why weren't the cars inside?

One way to slow down the crime in this area is to turn our jails into real JAILS.
