The Disaster Recovery Center in Bertie County was set to close this Saturday, but will now remain open through Thursday May 26th. Those affected by the tornadoes can go there to seek assistance.
"What we need individuals to do who have suffered losses is to fill out the paperwork, get the paperwork submitted, so we can get assistance on the ground immediately. if there is any concern that i have it's that our citizens have not been forthcoming in applying for the assistance that's available, and so please get your paper work filed. It's critically important." said Rep. G.K. Butterfield, (D) NC 1st District
The center is located at the Colerain community building on West Academy Street.
