Dip In Unemployment Rates

North Carolina's Unemployment numbers take a slight dip for the month of October even as thousands of people have dropped off payrolls and out of the job hunt.

North Carolina's unemployment rate isn't much.

That's according to the State's Unemployment Security Commission that said the unemployment rate for the month of October was 9.6 percent.

That was a slight decline from September's jobless rate which was 9.7 percent.

October was the first time in 29 months that North Carolina's Unemployment rate wasn't higher than the national average.

But still there are many people, many businesses in the east that are still hiring in Jacksonville.

The State job agency said there are 427,000 people listed as unemployed in North Carolina for the month of October.

The number of unemployed fell by nearly 6,900, but the number of people holding jobs also fell by almost 5,300.

This doesn't account for people not receiving and unemployment check.

I do wish the government would stop LYING to us. They only count those getting benifits. If they counted all the unemployed including those that get no benifits, unemployment would be closer to 15-20%. Get real people it is NOT getting better, just more people have run out of benifits.

These numbers are so misleading. They don't count people who's benefits have run out, people who have given up, and people who are under employeed. I have been out of work since 2009 and can't find anything above minimum wage. I work a part time job and depend on what savings I had in order to barely get by.
