UPDATE: Highway 11 Construction Finished

Good news for some drivers today, work on Highway 11 between Kinston and Greenville is all finished.

Dispatchers tell us Highway 11 is open at the railroad crossing at Graingers again. The project was finished on time Wednesday afternoon.

The railroad tracks there should be less bumpy to drive over.

Previous story:
Work began Monday morning on a section of Highway 11 between Kinston and Greenville.

DOT says crews will begin replacing the Highway 11 crossing at Graingers in Lenoir County at 9 a.m. Officials expect the work to last at least three days.

Drivers will be detoured onto Grainger Station Road. Officials don't expect that will add too much time to your drive.

I would be really surprised if they do this work in the few days claimed. The project on Hull Road in putting down railroad just across the road took almost 2 months. Hopefully they don't take so long.

I don't know why they think they can fix the four lane in three days when it took them at least 4 to fix the end of Faulkner and Grainger station rd and it was only a two lane.
