Designer Drug Search Nets $40K In Counterfeit Goods

Lawmen checking stores for bath salts and spice say they ended up finding nearly $40,000 in counterfeit goods at a Morehead City store.

The bust happened Tuesday at the 98 Cent Store on Arendell Street. Police say they seized boxes of knock-off shirts, shoes and jeans from the business.

Police say they contacted the Department of Homeland Security who contracts out an expert on counterfeit goods. That expert verified the goods as being fakes.

Carteret County deputies also searched a warehouse in Atlantic Beach for the business. There's no word yet on the amount of goods found at that location.
