Deputy Injured Directing Traffic

The Highway Patrol says a Craven County deputy sheriff was struck as they were directing traffic at noon.

It happened at the intersection of Highway 17 & 43 at Ernul. Deputy David Langston was at the intersection because the traffic light was out when a woman pulled out in front of a tractor trailer. Troopers say the impact of that crash hit the deputy.

Both Langston and the woman were sent to CarolinaEast Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The Highway Patrol says charges are pending against the woman.
