Deputy Brown's Death: One Year Later

Today marks a somber anniversary; it's been one year since Martin County Deputy Charlie Brown was shot and killed in the line of duty.

The fifteen year law enforcement veteran was shot responding to a gunman on Main St. in Williamston. Brown, a narcotics officer, is survived by his wife Cindy and two daughters.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office will observe a moment of silence at 9:15 a.m., which is approximately the time Deputy Brown was fatally shot.

The gunman, Jerry Pace, Jr. was also killed in the shootout.

My thoughts and prayers continue, especially today, for Charlie's family, friends, former classmates, and co-workers. Charlie was an awesome man from youth until the day he went to meet his Lord and Savior! Those of us who knew him, will always remember him as a hero. Rest in peace, Charlie Brown!

Sometimes justice will never get served. We will always remember the ones who lost their lives on duty while trying to protect the citizens who appreciate and love us and also the ones who hate us. You will always be in out thoughts. Thanks for courage.
