Deputies Arrest Man In Connection With March Attempted Murder Case

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has arrested another suspect related to the March 24th Weldon shooting.

Raheem Jamal Bellfield, 22 of Roanoke Rapids was arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder for his alleged involvement in the March 24th shooting.

Bellfield was arrested on Friday, April 4th and held at the Halifax County Jail without bond and given an April 30th court date.

The shooting incident is still under investigation with more charges pending.

Sheriff's deputies are looking for a local man wanted in connection with an attempted murder case.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office says Omar Ponton of Weldon has been charged with attempted first-degree murder for his alleged involvement in a shooting incident Monday night in the Weldon area.

The 21-year-old is listed as a wanted person in the National Crime Information Center and deputies say he's considered armed and dangerous.

Deputies say the shooting is still under investigation and that other charges are pending on additional suspects.
