Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against a Raleigh man who is accused of killing State Board of Education member Kathy Taft.
That announcement was made by the Wake County District Attorney's Office.
Jason Willford is accused raping and beating to death Taft, who was from Greenville. Taft was recovering from plastic surgery and was staying at a friend's Raleigh home when she was attacked March 9th.
The 30-year-old Williford live just blocks from here Taft was staying. He was arrested by Raleigh police five weeks after the murder.
