WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College Athletics announced today that Chad Reynolds has resigned as the school’s basketball coach and will be replaced on an interim basis by assistant coach Darrick Mullins.
PCC Athletic Director Junior Bailey said Reynolds stepped down as coach to dedicate more time to his full-time position with First Citizens Investor Services and to spend more time with his family.
PCC hired Reynolds in January 2008 to lead the school's return to junior college basketball after a 14-year hiatus. The Bulldogs finished Reynolds’ first season as coach with a 9-11 overall record before falling to 11-14 the next year.
This year’s team is off to an 0-6 start heading into tonight’s home contest against Lenoir Community College at 7.
Prior to taking over as interim head coach, Mullins had served as an assistant to Reynolds throughout his tenure at Pitt.
