It's the trip of a lifetime for some marching band members from First Flight High School in Dare County. They're one of 19 high school marching bands who will perform during the halftime show of the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
“The invitation to the Sugar Bowl is such a great opportunity and we are all so excited that all of our hard work has paid off,” drum major and senior Valerie Robey said in a press release.
The school says the Marching Nighthawks were anonymously recommended to the committee that choose the high school bands who will perform.
The game is scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, though it's not clear if the halftime show will be able to be viewed at that time.
