DEPUTIES: Sex Offender Used Facebook To Lure Women

A registered sex offender is accused of using a social network to lure women for sex and failing to notify lawmen of his new address.

Halifax County deputies say they got a tip this summer that a registered sex offender was using Facebook to lure women into sexual acts. After an investigation Rodney Williams of Littleton was arrested on multiple charges.

Deputies say this is the third time in two years that the 34-year-old Williams has been charged for failing to notify them of a new address. He's being held on a $100,000 bond and has a December 14th court date.

sexual predators and sex offenders are not the some thing. The way the laws are in North Carolina everyone is a sex offender. Its just under the laws some have been charged, some have not.Must up here don't know that.

Of course he did. Facebook doesn't discriminate, even a known sex offender. I think Facebook should be included in a criminal trial every time they allow this to happen.

The laws about sex offenders on facebook is crazy. Sex offenders laws are crazy. The way they are a sex offender can not walk out of there yard with out committing a crime. You can't get a good job. So I'll stay home and live off your tax dollers.

Then don't do the crime. There should be tough consequences for people who break laws, especially when it involves abusing or hurting people.

So you think it is okay for him to break the law as long as it does not involve a child? State law says convicted sex offenders can not use social media such as Facebook and the law is in place for a reason.

Are you serious? Don't the KNIFE and using STANGULATION during mean this guy is not after CONSENTUAL SEX, his aim is to HARM. What I don't get it WHY NORTH CAROLINA laws have such a low standard valuing LIFE. Even when one KILLS another and hides a body, and admits it, the STATE of NC sees fit to only sentence 12 years. And that is NOT the time SERVED. Just like this guy, LOOK at his trending crimes, yet the STATE actually gave him LESS TIME as more events were occurred. Our communities deserver better imo.

If they were both consenting adults, I don't see the problem unless he was not supposed to be on Facebook or other social sites because of what he did. Throw the book at him for not registering though.
