DEPUTIES: Inmates Accused Of Extortion For Bottom Bunk Rights

Two prisoners are facing even more trouble with the law, accused with the assault and extortion of a fellow inmate.

Halifax County deputies have charged 22-year-old Deunta Squire from Roanoke Rapids and 21-year-old Timothy Arrington from Enfield. They say the two men confronted the victim an threatened him with bodily harm if he didn't pay for his bottom bed space in the cell block.

The victim was assaulted, according to deputies. Arrington's bond was set at $2,500 while Squire was given a $25,000 bond. They have an April 11th court date.
