Deputies say a man shot and killed himself inside a burglarized home and authorities believe it may be the same person they were chasing last night in Nash County.
It stated around 11:45 p.m. after deputies got a call of a suspicious person in a vehicle near the L&L Convenience Store in Sandy Cross. There they spotted a man in a vehicle with a ski mask and gloves on.
After a short chase down West Mount Drive, the man wrecked the vehicle and ran. Deputies say as they were searching nearby woods, they got a call of a burglary in progress on Leon Road, which is not far from the wreck scene. The homeowner met deputies who told them the burglar was still inside.
Deputies confronted the man inside who they say then shot himself in the head. No one else was injured.
So far deputies have not been able to identify the dead man, but they say the suspicious man at the store and the gunman in the home are believed to be the same person.
