DEPUTIES: Bar's Permits Seized After Owner Sold Them Oxycontin Pills

A La Grange bar had its alcohol permits seized and the owner arrested for allegedly selling Oxycontin pills to undercover deputies.

Ruth Thompson is charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance, two counts of selling a controlled substance, two counts of delivering a controlled substance and two counts of maintaining an establishment for keeping and selling of controlled substances.

Lenoir County deputies say they twice bought the pain pills from Thompson this week at the Blue Ribbon Bar on Highway 70. During a voluntary search, deputies say they found even more Oxycontin pills, some marijuana and a .38 caliber special handgun. ALE agents seized the bar's alcohol permits.

The 29-year-old was jailed on a $50,000 secured bond.
