Avon Furniture Warehouses Destroyed By Fire

Two furniture warehouses were destroyed by fire overnight in Dare County.

Fire officials say two warehouses for Dockside Furniture at 40220 NC 12 in Avon caught fire around 1:30 a.m. Friday. The larger warehouse (approx. 120' x 36') was completely destroyed, the other (approx. 48' x 24') was about 90% destroyed.

Deputy Fire Marshal Kim Piddington says the fire does not appear suspicious, however the investigation is ongoing.

Piddington says fire fighters did a good job protecting homes on the south side and the main furniture showroom on the north side of the warehouses. Piddington did not yet have an estimate on the total losses.

Several nearby fire and rescue agencies responded.

Well the comment posted by insurer is uncalled for and totally inappropriate. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but just because you CAN post it, does not mean that you SHOULD. Hope you feel good about what you have said and done.

your first comment was quite insensitive-you know nothing of the owners and what they are going through

Hmmm, the economy is in a slump, furniture stores all over are having a hard time moving inventory, and two warehouses full of furniture happen to catch fire at 1:30AM...

Well fire marshall says that at this stage no sign of foul play or suspicious. God forbid the leeches that are called insurance companies actually have to pay for a legit fire.
