County Elections Offices Getting Ready For Early Voting

Early voting for the November 8th elections is just two weeks away and county elections officials is getting ready.

Dave Davis, director of the Pitt County Board of Elections says the elections office is preparing to send out notices with maps of the areas involved with redistricting and precinct information.

The Greenville mayoral race is one of the bigger races this election - and several signs for incumbent Mayor Pat Dunn and candidate Allen Thomas are up along the roadways. Signs for Robert O'Neal were harder to find.

Davis says he's hoping for a good turnout. "Well, it's always good to have a higher turnout - that way, the more people come out to vote, the more the public has a say in the election. Generally the turnout for municipal elections is around 15 to 20 percent depending on the contest."

Davis says voter registration ends October 14.

Early voting begins October 20th and runs through November 5th. The election is November 8th.

Your article does not state which mayoral race. There are probably 5 mayoral races in Pitt County.
