The public can now weigh in on the controversial beach driving rules on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
The National Park Service wants to prohibit any off-road vehicles from driving on a 26-mile stretch of the seashore. Officials would allow 26 miles to be open year-round, and another 13 miles would be open seasonally.
Those concerned can leave comments now through September at www.regulations.gov. To find the document by searching "Hatteras" or entering ID number NPS-2011-0005-0001
Comments can also be mailed or hand delivered to: Superintendent, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, 1401 National Park Drive, Manteo, North Carolina 27954.
