Cold Air To Linger Across Eastern North Carolina Through Wednesday

Winter returned to eastern North Carolina with a vengeance Monday night as temperatures plunged into the 20s with wind chills in the teens. Clear and frigid conditions will linger overnight with lows in the upper teens inland and middle 20s along the beaches. Sunshine and less wind will ease the chill a bit on Wednesday afternoon as highs hit the lower 40s. Much warmer air will arrive by Thursday and Friday. There will be little or no chance for rain through the end of the week.
