The Pitt County Sheriff's Office reports they responded to a home on Homestead Drive Christmas Day and ended up making a firearm arrest.
Lawmen say upon arrival, they were met outside of the home by Betty Crudup.
Authorities report Crudup told them her son, 26-year-old Roylin Junius Beale, was inside her home with his girlfriend, 30-year-old Lovely Knight.
They say Crudup told them her son was very upset and had a black gun in his hand, so she called 9-1-1.
Lawmen report they made contact with Beale by cell phone, and eventually he surrendered without incident.
The sheriff's office reports the gun was not immediately found, but that a black handgun was recovered from a dryer vent. They say "a hole had been cut in the vinyl underpinning and a rug had been placed on top of it in an apparent attempt to conceal the weapon."
Beale has been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and is in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond as the investigation continues.
