Authorities say a toddler managed to get away from their mother and was found face down in water this morning near their home.
Dispatchers say they sent EMS to a child in water call to 255 North Phillips Avenue in Bridgeton around 10:45 a.m.
Emergency Services Director Stanley Kite says the 2-year-old was found face down in a ditch and not breathing. The child was revived and taken to the hospital.
Kite says just a few minutes ago deputies located the mother.
Captain Joe Heckman says the mother and child were asleep when somehow the child got out of the house and wandered away. Heckman says since there was no intentional neglect, they will turn the case over to the Department of Social Services.
