Cherry Point To Hold Naming Ceremony For New Headquarters

Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point will hold a naming ceremony for the new combined headquarters building Friday.

The most prominent building on the air station will be in memory of General Christian F. Schilt, a marine aviator with ties to the Cherry Point community. Schilt's family is slated to attend the ceremony. General Schilt was awarded the medal of honor for evacuating wounded marines under fire out of Nicaragua, using a biplane in 1928.

Friday's ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. on the command parade deck.

you realize the last building burned to the ground so it was kind of necessary to build a new one

How much did the building cost? I'm sure that helped too.

I'm sure the funding involved with holding this ceremony was born from the money they're taking from us in Tuition Assistance. Dog & Pony Shows are nothing but a waste of our tax money.
