Cherry Point Air Exercise To Make History

Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point will be taking part in the first exercise of its kind Wednesday, and also the largest in recent history.

The base in Havelock says Exercise Mailed Fist will conduct operations from northern Virginia to northern Florida. Marines from Cherry Point, New River, Beaufort, South Carolina along with Navy and Air Force units will take part in the exercise.

This will be the first time in more than a decade that a second marine air wing harrier squadron will deploy to Bogue Field in Cape Carteret.

Has nothing to do with Libya. It has to do with making use of East Coast facilities to best prepare the aircraft wing for operations in Afghanistan or anywhere else it may be needed.
