Cesar Laurean Wife Files Divorce, Obtains Custody Of Daughter

The wife of the Marine sentenced to life in prison for killing his pregnant comrade has filed for divorced and taken full custody of the couple's four year old daughter.

Although Laurean's now ex-wife, Cpl. Christina Smith, has full custody, Laurean will still have some visitation rights. That's according to the Jacksonville Daily News.

Laurean is currently serving life in prison in Elizabeth City for the murder of Maria Lauterbach. Lauterbach's mother has filed a wrongful death suit against Laurean and Smith. It has been stayed until the outcome of the appeal of Laurean's murder conviction is known.

To Deb - I saw one of those papers in a quick mart in Morehead City and was shocked. I could not believe someone would put that out either but on the other hand - it is public information. I do think it is pretty tacky.

i still don't think he did it. after working with her, i believe she is the culprit and he covered it up. any testimony inplicating her was mysterious thrown out after a deal she made with the prosecution.

People should not do or get caught doing anything illegal if you do not want your picture in the public

IN Eastern North Carolina there is a Newspaper called " The jailbird" this paper is unethical and unconstitutional. This paper placed peoples faces and their charges prior to them being CONVICTED!!! I thought that we were innocent UNTIL proven Guilty! IF you request a jury trial in NC and your face has been in this paper countless times, how can you get a fair trial when Public Opinion has been formed already??????People we need to unite and end these ELITE Corrupted Officials and their money making corporations that exist at OUR expense.

So which issue of "The Jailbird" were you in? If you have been in it countless times, public opinion should be the least of your worries!

I feel like if you dont commit stupid crimes, them you dont have to worry about your picture in jailbird. They print crimnal information in news paper, only difference, the regular newspaper dont want to foot the expense of printing picture. dont committ crimes and JAILbIRD wont be an issue!

Gotta admit, in the only issue I ever bought, there were people arrested for traffic tickets. That seems a little overboard when calling someone a 'jailbird'! Will not purchase another one, personally. Kinda like watching Cheaters--one sided as all get out!

Why does that woman have custody of any child let alone her own? She knew what he did! I believe a child with a mother like that IS IN DANGER!!!
