As drought conditions continue, the North Carolina Forest Service says there has been enough rain in the past few weeks to lift the burn ban that's been in place since June 22.
Donald Meadows, District Ranger with the North Carolina Forest Service says you still must get a permit to burn. He also stresses that even though the ban is lifted conditions are still dangerous.
Year to date our state has had 4,247 forest fires, while the 10 year average from January to August is typically 3,812 forest fires.
