Carteret County Resolution Opposing School Funding Cuts

The Carteret County School Board passed a resolution at a special meeting Tuesday morning they will send to the state senate asking them not to pass a budget with funding cuts to public schools.

Just last week Carteret County had to tell 33 teachers they may not have jobs next year if the expected cuts are approved by the state government.

The Carteret County School District has been trying to keep cuts out of the classroom for years. In just the past two years they have cut administration staff by 25%, assistant principals by 29% and teachers by 2%.

The parents of children in k-12 should really be contacting the state legislature if they are concerned about their childrens education. Actually all citizens who want an educated workforce in N.C. should be concerned.
