Arrest Made In Pharmacy Robbery; 4527 Pills Recovered

An arrest has been made in last week's armed robbery of a pharmacy, along with a bomb threat made to divert police.

Beaufort police have charged Nathan Gillikin of Newport with armed robbery, trafficking opium by possession and by transportation, and making a false bomb report to a public building.

Last Wednesday the CVS on Live Oak Street was robbed just moments after a bomb threat was called in for the Beaufort town hall.

Police searched the man's home in Newport where they found the clothing used in the holdup along with 4,527 pills stolen from the pharmacy. Police say the man confessed the to the robbery.

He's being held on a $500,000 bond and is also facing charges by Carteret County deputies on other crimes.

Previous Story

A pharmacy in Eastern Carolina was robbed at this afternoon at the same time a bomb threat to town hall was called into police.

Authorities say the CVS Pharmacy on Live Oak Street in Beaufort was held up around 1:00 p.m. by a man with a knife who was demanding narcotics.

Police say the bomb threat call was made from a grocery store on Cedar Street, and officers compared videos from both businesses and confirmed the same man made the call and robbed the pharmacy.

The robber is described as a white man, 6' to 6'2", wearing a green hoodie, black shirt, toboggan, green gloves, brown boots, khaki pants and had reddish brown facial hair. Anyone with information should call Beaufort police at 252-728-4561.

Actually, your more apt to see white people do the pharmacy thing for the drugs. Except for the shooting fatality last year, these robberies usually end up with very little actual violence. Crimes that result in violence still show African Americans lead that category.
