Car Plows Into Pharmacy

A Morehead City pharmacy was damaged after a car drove into the business.

A car plowed through the Medical Park Pharmacy and Home Medical on Penny Lane Thursday afternoon, according to the Carteret News-Times. The papers says neither the driver nor anyone in the store suffered any injuries.

Police have not released the name of the driver. The pharmacy remains open.

Greenville has had more than it's share of drivers making there own "drive through". Glad no one was badly hurt and glad it was somewhere other than Greenville!

You know, I used to wonder...How in the world can this keep happening so frequently. Well, I am a 45 year old driver with a perfect driving record, and it almost happened to me the other day. I had my vehicle in park (thank goodness), and I turned around to get something from the backseat. When I did, my foot pressed down on the accelerator quite hard. I didn't even realize what I had done until the engine revved up. So, I then realized how this could possibly happen so easily. I was SO thankful I had it in park and not drive. How embarrassing that would've been!!

I think this (mistaking the gas for the brake pedal) is happening with more frequency as people are living longer, the time between license renewal is longer, and the drivers are much older than in previous decades. Now, I know there were old farmers who drove the family pickup and the tractor well into their elderly years, but more elderly women drive today, than in those decades, instead of riding with the gents. I'm a woman too, and hope this never happens to me. I'm glad no one was hurt.

Let me finish this one: Her name is Mildred Fillapot, she is 87 years old, worn glasses for 84 years, and mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes. Next story.
