Camp Lejeune Unit Loses 4th Marine In 10 Days

A Marine unit from Camp Lejeune has lost another member in Afghanistan fighting, bringing the number of losses to four since March 11th.

The Department of Defense says Staff Sgt. James Malachowski died Sunday while conducting combat operations in Helmand province.

The 25-year-old from Westminster, Maryland was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines.

That same regiment lost Lance Cpl. Christopher Meis of Bennett, Colorado last Thursday, while Cpl Johnathan Taylor and Cpl. Ian Muller also have died in recent fighting.

Although we have lost 4 Marines, our first loss was more than 10 days ago. The Remaining 3 have been in the past 10 days.
