Camp Lejeune Marine Given Bronze Star With Valor

A Camp Lejeune Marine was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic actions against the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Lance Corporal Sean Warren was also given a meritorious promotion to corporal.

Warren was deployed with 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 7 in March 2010.

The Marines say during combat Warren led his squad through flooded fields and chest deep canals while aggressively pursing the enemy. At one point Warren ran into the middle a a road, exposing himself to enemy fire within inches of his position and concentrated his fire toward the enemy. The Marines say the firefight lasted six hours.

Warren's Bronze Star is with a Combat Distinguishing Device, which is added for acts of valor. When given for valor, the Bronze Star Medal is the fourth-highest combat award of the U.S. Military.
