UPDATE: Kinston Wins 11U State Title

The Kinston Nationals won the 11U state title for Cal Ripken Baseball.

Kinston beat Sandhills 18-5 in four innings Sunday night.

The Nationals will move on to Regionals in Tennessee.

The first championship game for the 12U division will be Monday at 5 p.m. If a second game is needed, it'll be at 7 p.m. Monday.

Seven games were played on day one of the 11U and 12U Cal Ripken State Baseball Tournament in Washington.

Here is a look at the results:

11U Game 1:
Sandhills 13, New Bern 2
Dillon Jones went 3-for-3 with a home run for Sandhills

11U Game 2:
Southern Pitt 12, Washington 1
Clay Summerlin, Cody Morris and Drew Ferguson each collected two hits for Southern Pitt.
Nick Hardison went 2-for-2 with a double for Washington

11U Game 3:
Kinston 10, Sandhills 8
Kinston's Austin Rouse was 3-for-3 with a home run and Colby McLawhorn was 2-for-3 with two doubles
Hogan Windish hit a grand slam home run for Sandhills

12U Game 1:
Southern Pitt 13, Down East 1
Nick Gurkins was 3-for-3 with two doubles

12U Game 2:
Sandhills 14, Pocosen 0
Noah Thompson hit a home run for Sandhills and Pocosen was held to just four hits

12U Game 3:
Washington 3, Roanoke Rapids 2

12U Game 4:
Southern PItt 19, Holly Springs 0
Cameron Andrews went 4-for-4 and Robert Rapp was 2-for-4 with a triple and a home run

    If we just had this kind of coverage for softball. It is growing more popular than baseball but, I wouldn't expect Washington or WITN to understand that.
