An arson attempt to a convenience store in Eastern Carolina and the store's manager has it all caught on tape.
The Stokes Mart Grill on Highway 902 and 30 was targeted by four people around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Store surveillance video shows four men approaching the store, and one of them pours what appears to be gasoline around the building.
The would-be arsonists then break the side window with what appears to be a bat and start pouring more of the liquid inside the store. After several attempts the four successfully light the fire, but it then literally blew up in their faces.
The video shows the group running off toward Highway 903.
While the store was damaged, it was able to open for business this morning. Store manager Badi Alia doesn't understand why someone would want to burn down the business.
The attempted arson is being investigated by the Pitt County Sheriff's Office.
