A mama bear and her three cubs are making themselves at home in Jones County community and a hunter caught them on camera in Maysville.
People who live nearby say they've seen the four bears hanging out and looking for food in the woods and along Maple Street. One woman tells us a bear even scratched outside her grandson's window one night.
"I've been out here all my life. Even as a child back there in them woods, but now I wouldn't go out there for nothing in this world," said Juanita Kimble.
"We've got four bears roaming the back street, Maple street, and apparently they are coming around 7 o'clock at night, and they're going through people's yards and trash and putting a little scare in people," said Maysville Town Manager Jonathan Franklin.
By nature black bears are not aggressive animals, but Maysville police are asking people not to feed the bears. officers also suggest you keep your trash in tightly sealed containers to keep the bears out.
