Bridge Maintenance Causes Traffic Detour

Crews will begin a work on a Perquimans County bridge Monday morning, causing drivers to take an alternate route.

U.S. 17 Business will be closed at the Hertford drawbridge beginning at 7 a.m. and crews will begin a month-long maintenance project. Both directions of that portion of highway will be closed during the roadwork. Boat traffic will be open at the bridge daily from 6 p.m. through midnight.

The project is expected to be completed August 26.

Closed August 1st. through August 26th. The closing will only bother drivers headed north through Hertford. To go around Hertford to get to NC-37 will take maybe 10 minutes.

So how much longer is the detour And if traveling through there, drivers should add ?? minutes to their commute? That would be helpful.
